Spring into Summer Closet Essentials
Welcome to Spring. Here in California, we have just come out of months of rain. And by no means am I complaining, we officially are out of our long-standing drought. It does feel really good to get out of rain gear and have the rays of the sun shining down on me. I am now in the middle of putting my winter clothing into bins in my attack and bringing out, my warm weather months gear, which includes, shorts, skirts, t-shirts, floral blouses, and lighter pants in linen and khaki. It’s fun to bring in some new pieces to refresh my closet.
The focus of my closet is not about following trends. I like to find clothing that lasts for years, maybe that are not always au courant but am able to cycle them in and out over time. Because so much makes a comeback. Like the vests, I featured last summer. Still here by the way.
I do like staying abreast of what is happening in fashion because it’s fun. I chose this selection because I wanted some looks which could be worn now and be carried into summer. Even though I find neutrals indispensable, I also adore color. This season is about bright pinks, reds, and the ever-green cobalt blue. I have decided it is one of my power colors, along with the bright fuchsia dragonfruit, which has been featured in Jesse Kamm’s spring collection.
I checked on the spring trends for shoes and many are too high for me to wear but there is a big emphasis on ballet flats, which I don’t always find comfortable, so I included my version from the brand Sabah, which are super comfy and break in beautifully and go with everything. I am featuring a gorgeous flowy dress from Jesse Kamm which can be worn in myriad of ways and layered and you guessed it, it’s in dragon fruit. Military cargo pants are my go-tos year round but also happen to be all over the trend reports and there are a couple of layering pieces for warmth and a super cute chocolate brown body suit in hemp by Ozma of California which looks great with shorts, skirts, and pants. Spring and summer are about being barefoot, and exposing our feet, so I have thrown in a pair of sandals. Personalize the looks, change up the colors, and have fun. These pieces will take you from spring into summer.
1. OZMA The Christy Bodysuit in Manzanita
I love the feeling of the slub hemp fabric of this understated yet sexy bodysuit. Super chic with linen pants or jeans. Can double up as a last minute swimsuit in a pinch.

2. Jesse Kamm Palma Dress in Dragonfruit
Wear this dress, frontwards, backwards, with a belt, or without. Throw on some flip flops for a poolside gathering or boots and a jean jacket for a summer concert. I am dying over this dress and bold color. Mine will be coming on my summer travels for sure.

3. The Frankie Shop Carrie Cotton Twill Cargo Pant
Cargo pants have not gone out of style, they merely change in color, fabric, and cut. Always reliable. Can be worn casual with a tank top or t-shirt or with a feminine, colorful blouse and kitten heels.
4. Women’s Sabah in Marmaris
I have 3 pairs of Sabahs. All for over 5 years. They are my summer go-to for travel. They are easy to slip on and off at security check and I can walk in them on my adventures for miles. They get softer and more buttery with each wear. They come in many colors, including a fun leopard print.
5. Matteau Breton Striped Navy and White Boat Neck Shirt
I am a sucker for a striped boat neck shirt. I first came across them during my college years in France. And have been a devotee ever since. The navy and white is classic. Perfect with white jeans, overalls or cut off denim shorts. I love this one as it is roomy and structured at the same time.
6. Alex Mill Brit Work Jacket in Denim
In the last few years work wear has become a mainstay in fashion. It is comfortable and lends every outfit, a casual but hip vibe. This jacket goes with everything on this list and then some.
7. John Patrick Organic Minnie Cotton V-Neck Sweater in Cobalt
As I mentioned cobalt blue is one of my power colors and I was tickled to see one of my favorite sustainable brands making a light cotton summer sweater in it. Great with high waisted white pants or thrown over a summer dress. It is super light and packable.
I will admit, I have always liked the look of outdoor sports sandals, well, for the great outdoors, maybe never felt quite comfortable in them with a feminine dress at a party or restaurant. I found these and love them. They have that sporty vibe but are also a bit more refined. Go well with anything
