Meet me in Nature

IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY

“Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything” ~ Albert Einstein

Over the last two years, I have watched the people on this planet become further and further disconnected from one another, nature, the planet and themselves. I include myself in that. I have at times watched myself become disconnected from others, nature, the planet and myself. We had forgotten who we were. I forgot who I was too. Everyone has struggled to some degree or another. We had lived in a world of distraction, consumption and delusion and the circumstances of these times brought much of that to a halt and pushed the collective into fear and thus survival mode.

I cannot speak for anyone else’s journey, only my own. And my journey is one of having moved inward. Attempting to connect with a deeper understanding of who it is I think I am. What are my values, my beliefs, my thoughts. What is it I hold dear to me? Who the hell am I?

I am a seeker, a mother, an activist, a chef, a writer, an environmentalist, a philanthropist, a blogger, blah, blah, blah. Am I these things? All these identifiers?

I am not.

For the last 25 months, I have hit some pretty dark places deep within, a dark night of the soul, if you will and all the labels I had attached myself to, I realized had done nothing for me, spiritually speaking.

I came to a point where it was time to myself with breath, with meditation, with contemplation and with the essence of nature.

Nature, at once a home and also an enigma. Chaotic and messy and  at once perfect and intentional. It needs no one and nothing. It just is. With or without us.
