5 Key Fall Fashion Favorites

I simply adore bundling up in the Fall and Winter months. Now, granted I live in Southern California, so I try to focus on layering pieces which are comfortable, livable and casual, since I live in the country side. And although I do love to stay abreast with the latest fashion trends, I really try to focus on evergreen timeless pieces. I will be wearing these 5 selected items I have chosen this season to add to my wardrobe. As always I do try to support smaller brands, who focus on sustainability and mindful business practices such as fair trade, social and environmental responsibility and whenever possible, locally made. I am crazy about what I have chosen as they will go well with so much of what I already have in my closet. This season I am going with plaids, rich colors and coziness.

1. The Tunis Caftan in Camp Plaid Flannel by Pietsie.

I love Pietsie’s clothes, in the summer she does easy breezy fabrics and this fall she is doing flannel. Made in LA, Pietsie’s essential go to pieces can be worn everywhere. Dressed up for dinner with a lovely belt and great jewelry, dressed down with flip flops and a sun hat at the beach.

I am loving the Tunis Caftan, I wore a striped linen one all summer and now she is making it in a camp flannel plaid. It can be worn over a turtle neck or long sleeve thermal and tights in colder parts of the country or with a cardigan and chunky brown leather boots to an outdoor concert in Southern Californian.

Pietsie is also offering a 20% discount for a limited time, use code: PIETSIEFALL. Offer ending 11/05 at 11:59 pm.

2. The Birkenstock Boston Shearling in Mink

Every year when I add another pair of Birkenstocks to my ever growing collection, my husbands asks me if I think it is necessary. Yes, it’s necessary. Birkenstocks are so comfortable and allow my feet to stretch out to their natural state in which they need to thrive. My teenage daughter would not be caught dead in them but I can honestly say I have worn Birkenstocks for almost 30 years (I date myself here). In any case, they may not be high fashion but take a look online at photos of many fashion icons wearing them (including Kate Moss and Katie Holmes), and you will just how popular they are. They go great with a pair of worn Levi’s and a chunky cable knit sweater. I plan on wearing them with everything. The golden brown is cheery but accents your fall wardrobe perfectly. And the shearling keeps your feet and toes extra warm.

3.  The Billy Jean pant in Beetroot

According to fashion revolution.org, 200 tonnes of water are used per 1 tonne of fabric and a lot of that goes into the actually dying process. Much of this water with residual goes back into nature. Yikes. So when I learned The Great created a Plant-Dyed capsule collection using their knits made in Los Angeles, I was excited. They are using Chestnut Bark. Madder Root, Pomegranate Peels, Orange Peel among other plant life. It was hard to choose the color but I steeled on beetroot as the pink was very earthy and subtle. This everyday pant looks great with a pair of ankle boots like Blundstones and a cozy hooded sweatshirt.

4. The Emilia Coat in Rust Plaid

I recently stumbled across Whimsy and Row and was super impressed with their sustainability values. Honestly check out their about page here . Some aspects, to name a few, include making everything super locally in Venice, Ca with limited runs, choosing certified organic cotton, linen, Cupro and deadstock/upcycled fabrics with a zero waste, closed loop mission. Their cuts are feminine and their prices won’t break the bank and I think it’s awesome that it is made from 100% Up-Cycled wool. I might have to do a little plaid layering and wear it over the Pietsie caftan.

Whimsy & Row is offering a 15% discount for a limited time, 10/25 and ending 11/06 - use code ANNAG15 at checkout.

5. The Organic Henley in Sedona

For the last 18 months many of us have turned to comfort/ lounge wear as the staple of our closets. My go to for super relaxed-fit and comfy, organic, non-toxic, and natural casual wear has been Mate .

Their color palette is muted but fun and current and their Organic Sedona Henley, a rich clay colored long sleeve waffle tee will be my go to layering piece, I think it will go perfectly with my Beetroot dyed jeans from The Great.
