5 Spring Closet Essentials
It’s official, we have sprung into Spring, the nights are still cool but the days are warming up. Every season I like to add a few key pieces to my closet and for Spring, I definitely like to pick pieces I can carry into Summer. As well. I tend to shy away from seasonal trends and instead pick pieces I know I can continue wearing for a little while. For this season I am loving the evergreen tie-dye look as featured in two of my picks below, chambray, creamy colored suede, neutrals like camel, clay and off white, pale colored plaids, and subtle stripes. I love the pieces, I picked below as they already go with so much I have collected in my closet over the years. I hope you have fun with them. I chose 5 essentials but added one more at the end, couldn’t help myself.
1. Celeste Top in Citrus Tie Dye by Atelier Delphine available at Midland Shop
Yuka, founder of Atelier Delphine marries her ethos of quality, sustainably sourced and made materials and radical fashion sense, seeing clothing as a part of who you are. For me her styles are unconventional and unique, unstructured and flowing but avant garde too. This top beckons the later days of spring and moving into summer when things warm up. The top is made from a tie dyed gauze. White, citrus and pink (two of the spring 2022 trend colors). I love it with cut off jean shorts, or linen, wide leg, draw string pants and sandals. It runs on the large size, as it is roomy and unstructured, shop accordingly.
Midland - Well Chosen Goods out of Los Angeles, one of my favorite shopping spots, is offering Amalgam Kitchen followers a 15% percent discount on this top and anything else site wide until March 30. Use code AMALGAM15.
2. The Dincy Utility Jumper in Off White
I keep getting compliments at the farmers market when I wear this jumpsuit. It’s comfortable running errands or working in the garden. I wear mine with my Sabah loafers or lace up suede ankle boots. I love the color, it’s not pink or off white, but perfectly in between. And the fabric is not stiff at all. Sometimes jumpsuits can be a little stiff but the fabric is supple and comfy.
3. Kent Slides in Suede Camel by Ozma
Last season, for winter I recommended a shearling lined Birkenstock slide. For spring I love these suede slides. They are little bit edgy but not too much. They work great with a pair of jeans or a more flowy dress or worn with elastic waisted linen pull up pants with a loose blouse or unstructured top.
4. The Western Highland Skirt by The Great in Navy Chambray
Maybe I have been watching too many episodes of Yellowstone and 1883 but I am truly in love with this blue cotton chambray skirt, an ode to the cowgirl look. This skirt looks great with a white over sized man shirt and a pair of brown Frye-style boots. Okay, I will love it with a t-shirt and flip flops too as the days get hotter.
5. The Duchess Sweater in Sand by Heidi Merrick
This sweater is made of a cotton blend, so it is perfect for the warmer weather but when you still need that little bit extra. The shoulders have an old world pouf and the waist is cinched. I wear it with blue jeans and sandals or with a sexy little pencil skirt and kitten heels for date night. I love this neutral color but it comes in a fun red, yellow and reliable black. Heidi Merrick is a California native and has defined, West Coast cool with a focus on minimalism, craftsmanship and form, all her clothing is designed and made in downtown Los Angeles highlighting ethical and sustainable practices. For me her clothing is wearable, chic but attainable and always feminine, sexy and a little bit edgy. I am a fan.
Honorable mention: Isolde Maxi Dress in Off White Tie Dye
I love tie-dye. I will always love tie-dye in all its many forms from t-shirts, socks, sweatpants and sweatshirts, silk skirts and scarves and yes, dresses too. You may be surprised to know tie-dye has been around since the 6th century and has come in and out of fashion since. This dress is flowy and feminine and gorgeous. And evokes a little bit of hippie-chic. Is that still a thing? I love it belted with a vintage brown leather belt and ankle boots. Wear it to a day time birthday lunch with sandals or with a linen blazer and ballet flats. Roll it up and bring it on a weekend getaway. This is my latest-favorite French brand, ba&sh. They also have a blouse in the same print and this dress comes in a black and red tie-dye. I snagged that one too.
